In the last few months, MiCarePlan has certainly hit a number of big milestones. What started out as an interactive PowerPoint presentation, put together on free Sunday evenings and trains back to Newcastle University. Became an ideas board in November 2016, and just 4 months later the first functional prototype was launched.
Today, MiCarePlan is reaching care homes across the country and as the solution grows, so does the office. Welcome to our Newcastle Team!
Previously a Care Assistant and Shift Manager within Private and Public sector care homes, I now utilise this hands on experience in my role as Managing Director of MiCarePlan. It’s been an incredibly exciting and demanding journey so far, and it’s amazing to look at the office buzzing with new faces today- especially when I think of where the idea began.
In the company, I take overall responsibility for sales, solution development and business strategy. My days are often spent demonstrating MiCarePlan, co-ordinating with the development team, and managing our fantastic team – which of course includes ensuring a full supply of sweet treats. All while currently planning a wedding for summer 2018!
I worked in higher education for 20 years as an Operations Manager with experience in customer and community engagement, strategy, fundraising, event delivery and team leadership. In the office, I’m known for needing my coffee to come strong enough that you could stand a spoon up in it.
I’m so excited to be starting this new chapter with MiCarePlan, supporting our customer outreach, and the actual implementation process in care homes. I am passionate about helping to improve care delivered to support to older people, particularly around dementia care as my own dad has recently had a diagnosis of vascular dementia.
In my time away from work, I actually keep up ties with a slightly different part of the care sector as I knit little hats for special care baby units.
I graduated last June from Newcastle University with a degree in History & Politics, and my previous experience includes working as a Brand Ambassador at Clarins Fragrance Group. My current role at MiCarePlan can sometimes feel worlds away from all of that, but I’m loving learning and understanding everything about care planning and the dedication and support needed for care teams. My usual day involves supporting the team through content creation, social media engagement and customer support.
Outside of work I like keeping active and planning for my next travelling adventure! I have taken part in the Great North Run (even if I haven’t picked up my running shoes since) and you used to be able to find me down at the local pool training with my semi-pro synchronised swimming team.
